Augustin / Stone Farm EXACTA in Santa Anita’s China Doll Stakes

Three-year-old fillies WILL THEN (pictured left) and AMORITA finished first and second respectively in Santa Anita’s Listed China Doll Stakes on March 23.  The mile-long race on the turf was a “family” affair of sorts… Winner WILL THEN is a homebred racing for George Strawbridge’s Augustin Stables, and runner-up AMORITA races for Augustin in partnership with her breeder Stone Farm. 

Paulick Report Interviews Arthur Hancock on Recently Pulished Autobiography

Ray Paulick, publisher of the Paulick Report, interviewed Arthur Hancock last week about his recently published autobiography “Dark Horses: A Memoir of Redemption.” Topics up for discussion run the gamut from Ricky Nelson’s song “Garden Party” to Hancock’s departure from Claiborne Farm to the stallion career of Kentucky Derby-G1 and Breeeders’ Cup Classic-G1 winner Sunday Silence.

Two-Year-Old JENKIN Earns Stakes Winner Status

In the final days of 2024, Stone Farm raised JENKIN won Oaklawn’s $175,000 Year’s End Stakes on December 29.  The race was the first stakes attempt for the juvenile daughter of Mineshaft, and she ended the season with a three-quarter length win in the one mile race.  JENKIN was coming  off a maiden special win on December 6 also at Oaklawn, which marked the fiilly’s two-turn debut.

SHE FEELS PRETTY Scores Grade 1 Win at Keeneland

Wearing blinkers for the first time, Stone Farm raised and sold SHE FEELS PRETTY rolled to an impressive win for owner Lael Stables in the G1 Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Keeneland on Oct. 12.  The 3-year-old daughter of of Karakontie chased the pace early in the 1 1/8-mile race, then blew by the leaders at the top of the stretch to win by an easy six lengths.

Favored TENMA wins G1 Del Mar Debutante

TENMA took Del Mar’s top divisional race for 2-year-old fillies coming from off the pace to win the Del Mar Debutante-G1 on Sept. 7.  A 2-year-old daughter of Nyquist, TENMA raced fifth of seven down the backside.  As they headed into the turn, TENMA moved up along the rail, was shuffled back briefly, then, when asked, eased around horses and ran down the leader to win by a determined nose.

MILESTONE: 200 SWs Raised on Our Pastures

When WEST HOLLYWOOD won the 1 1/16-mile Saranac Stakes on Aug. 30 at Saratoga, he became the 200th Stakes Winner to have been raised in pastures at Stone Farm.  The 3-year-old son of Uncle Mo is out of the Galileo mare White Hot (IRE) and was bred by Bobby Flay’s B. Flay Thoroughbreds.  The colt races for Qatar Racing and is trained by Brad Cox. He has three wins and a second in his five starts to date.
