1991 Halo – Bottle Top, by Topsider
Bred by Arthur Hancock III and raised at Stone Farm, Strodes Creek raced for a partnership that included his breeder, trainer Charlie Whittingham and Bob McNair. A son of Stone Farm stallion Halo, he broke his maiden in his debut in January of his 3-year-old season. His connections saw the potential. He placed in the Santa Anita Derby-G1 and then came running in the stretch in the Kentucky Derby-G1 and finished second. He also placed in the Belmont S.-G1. Strodes Creek won or placed in seven of nine starts for earnings of $430,006.
