Lael Stables’ SHE FEELS PRETTY unleashed a powerful kick in the stretch to post a 4 1/2-length win in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine on Sept. 16. The 2-year-old daughter of Karakontie completed the mile on turf in 1:35.34 – a time slightly faster than colt Carson’s Run posted in the Grade 1 Summer Stakes on the same card. SHE FEELS PRETTY’s victory marked the first Grade 1 win for her trainer Cheryl DeVau.
SHE FEELS PRETTY broke her maiden in her first start on July 16, winning a 5 1/2-furlong race on the turf by a neck. DeVaux told the media that the way the daughter of Karakontie had matured since her debut had convinced her try her in the Grade 1 race.
Raised and sold by Stone Farm, SHE FEELS PRETTY was bred in Kentucky by Payson Stud. One of two winners out of the More Than Ready mare Summer Sweet, she was purchased from Stone Farm by her owners for $240,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
