BUGLE (f, 3, War Front–Chatham {MSP, $156,431}, by Maria’s Mon), a close second as the favorite on debut over a grassy mile at Churchill Downs Nov. 9, missed by only a nose once again as the 6-5 crowd’s pick over 1 1/16 miles of Gulfstream lawn Dec. 11. She took all the money at the windows and was 2-1 in this third go. The $400,000 Keeneland September yearling raced in midpack against the pine. With work to do with three furlongs yet to travel, Bugle shifted to the outside of a tiring rival before splitting horses in late stretch to win by 3/4 lengths over Daring Duchess (Arch). Under Bugle’s third dam is champion juvenile filly and MGISW Flanders (Seeking the Gold), who produced champion 3-year-old filly & MGISW Surfside (Seattle Slew). Sales history: $400,000 yrl ’13 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 3-1-2-0, $39,400.
