Menifee

1996 Harlan – Anne Campbell, by Never Bend

A son of Stone Farm stallion Harlan out of subsequent Broodmare of the Year Anne Campbell, Menifee was bred and raised at Stone Farm and raced by Hancock in partnership with James H. Stone. After placing in the Tampa Bay Derby, Menifee shipped to Kentucky where he won Keeneland’s Blue Grass S.-G1. In the Kentucky Derby-G1, he came charging but was a neck short to winner Charismatic. Two weeks later, he was second to that rival again in the Preakness S.-G1. He won the Haskell Invitational-G1 over eventual Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1 winner Cat Thief. Menifee earned over $1.7 million winning five times and placing five times from 11 starts.
