Argot Breaks His Maiden Impressively For a Big Price at Kentucky Downs Courtesy of the TDN

12th – KD, $122,520, MSW, 9-19, 2 yo, 6 ½ f T, 1:18.34, fm.

ARGOT (c, 2, Stroll — Argue, by Storm Cat) gained third via the stewards in his first race track appearance at Ellis Park July 5 and reported home fifth transferred to the turf up at Saratoga Aug. 2. The dark bay could do no better than a flat fifth over that course going 5 ½ furlongs Aug.19 and was hammered at the windows to be the 2-1 market leader by the time the gates opened. Trying the longest distance of his career thus far, Argot kept a close eye on the runaway leader around the far turn. He took command inside the final 100 yards and dashed past the post a 2 ¼ length winner. King‘s Player (Shakespeare) was runner-up. Argue, out of a half-sister to MGSW and MGISP E Dubai (Mr. Prospector) and GISW No Matter What (Nureyev), foaled a filly by Discreetly Mine in 2014 and was bred back to Quality Road this term. Lifetime Record: 4-1-0-1, $77,805.
