Stone Farm: For half of a century.
If you take care of the land,
the land will take care of you.
We’re trying to raise you a good horse.
We sell only what we raise.
M Racing Group’s EL MAGNATE overcame a troubled start and traffic problems to win a 5 1/2-furlong Maiden Special Weight at Woodbine on May 17 in his racing debut. The victory earned the 3-year-old colt the designation of “TDN Rising Star,” and he become 60th runner by Leading Sire Into Mischief to earn that status. Trained by Mark Casse, EL MAGNATE leapt coming out of the gate forcing him to lose ground. After trailing the field of seven early, he split horses moving well on the turn until his path closed. He clipped heels with the horse in front of him, and stumbled dramatically. The colt regained his composure, angled wide down the stretch, then drew clear for an impressive 3 1/3-length win.
Bred by celebrity chef Bobby Flay, EL MAGNATE was foaled and raised at Stone Farm. He is out of Cover Song, a daughter of Fastnet Rock (Aus) who raced for Flay, and was sold as a weanling by Stone Farm for $500,000 at the 2023 Keeneland November sale.
