1978 Riva Ridge – Bold Ballet, by Bold Bidder
Raised at Stone Farm, Tap Shoes was bred and raced by Arthur Hancock and partner Leon J. Peters. Considered one of the best juveniles of his generation, he won the Sanford S.-G2, Hopeful S.-G1 and Futurity S.-G1 in consecutive starts. At seasons end, he was assigned 125 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap, only one pound below Champion Lord Avie. He returned to his Grade 1 form at three, winning the Flamingo S.-G1. He also placed in the Whitney H.-G1 and two other graded stakes. He retired to stud duty at Stone Farm with earnings of $463,513.
