Thirty-five years after SUNDAY SILENCE captured the Kentucky Derby-G1, Preakness Stakes-G1, and Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1 on his way to being honored as Horse of the Year, the career of the great horse is still relevant.

Not only is the story of the rags to riches colt just as compelling as it was in 1989, but the impact of SUNDAY SILENCE as a stallion continues to be felt.  At the recent running of the 150th Kentucky Derby-G1, two grandsons of SUNDAY SILENCE entered the starting gate.  T O Password finished a respectable fifth in the field of twenty. Meanwhile FOREVER YOUNG turned in an epic performance – finishing third, a nose behind winner Mystik Dan and runner-up Sierra Leone in one of the most thrilling photo finishes in the last thirty years.

Foaled and raised at Stone Farm, SUNDAY SILENCE was raced by Arthur Hancock in partnership winning nine races and finishing second five times in 14 starts.  He was acquired by Japanese interests for stud duty and became a record-breaking international stallion.
